Our Story

KILLING  YOUR PARENTS CREDIT CARD SINCE 1975

Ted's Restaurant and Bar over the years has become a favorite location for students, alumni and visitors of the University of Connecticut. It is the goal of the Ted's Restaurant and Bar staff to ensure that customers have the best experience while they are visiting the Storrs Campus.

Ted's Restaurant and Bar is currently owned by Ryan McDonald who has helped to continue on the great tradition of the bar. With live bands, karaoke, theme nights and nightly specials, the bar has become a hot spot on the UConn campus and continues to be the longest standing bar at the University.

McDonald has introduced the "Bionic Beaver" to the bar, which is a popular red or blue colored pitcher made with pretty much everything you can imagine behind the bar and is a customer favorite on the drink menu. The 20 available beers on tap is what separates the bar from any other around and what patrons love most about the bar.

Ted's Restaurant and Bar was originated in 1975 by the Nanos Family - most importantly Tom, Elliot and Dean - hence the name Ted's. A place where you can chill and play darts, the bar was once known as the "Whiskey and Beer Joint."

From 1994 until 2002 Sean and Derek owned Ted's Restaurant and Bar and was bought out by Scottie and Brett who kept the tradition going until 2007.  After that. McDonald took over and really added a customer friendly approach to the bar.  He is known for throwing a party for every holiday of the year and any special occasion he can ponder up. Open year round, bar-goers love the pub style menu including great pizza, grinders and wings!
